Welcome to Linux Software Portal
The Linux Software Portal allows you to easily find and install a large selection of Linux applications. We are constantly expanding the number of applications, and testing the ones listed for ease-of-use and reliability. We have a community of users who provide the feedback we need to sustain our growth and development. Most of the applications will be installed from the default repsoitories of the Linux distribution you are using, and the version of the application will be the default version available in your distribution. Certain special applications will be installed from .deb packages hosted in our own repository. In either case, the installation process is started with a single click.
Our web site depends on the "apturl" package which is installed by default in Ubuntu. In other Debian/Ubuntu-based distributions, you may need to use the Synaptic Package Manager to install this package before you can use this web site. You can also install the "apturl" package from the command line by entering as root: apt-get install apturl, or as user: sudo apt-get install apturl. This web site should work with the Firefox web browser, and possibly other common browsers.
For maximum compatibility with our web site, it is suggested that you use the latest version of the Linux Mint or Ubuntu distributions.
